Bon Jovi "Fan Album": Burning Bridges- Out 21 Aug

"The Burning Bridges record is our latest, is not our next. This is sort of the end of a cycle not the beginning of another one. 2014 was a pretty dramatic year for me and I've come through it and I'm back to sound, mind and body, at least I think so. 2014 was a miserable year and, so, this is the end of a cycle. In the meantime, the new record will come out in April or May, is fantastic, I'm really proud of it. I don't hate burning bridges by any means but some of the songs are 10 years old, yeah, there're songs that, you know, we never used before, so, "We Don't Run" is a new one but "Saturday Night Gave Me Sunday Morning" is probably, I don't know, 8 or 10 years old. It's OK, it wasn't good enough to make the record at the time, but it's cool, I'm glad we did it. It's the end of an era, I probably can't tell you much more than that. It was delivered in a brown paperbag, that's the cover, there're no lyrics, there's no credits, there's no pictures, there's no videos, there's no interviews, end. I think it's pretty simple: the Burning Bridges record will consist of 8 songs, possible more, with We Don't Run being a newly written song, whereas the rest, like Sunday Morning, were initially written prior to that, but finished and (newly) recorded for this album.

That's why they're "new" - haven't been out before, have been freshly recorded, new release. That's what I think Shanks is trying to say, or what's in his head, and that doesn't contradict what Jon is saying to me.

Well if the 2016 songs sound like We Dont Run ill be happy.

Yeah, me too. I definitely don't want songs like that Reunion thingy on there, and still don't get why Jon should've even considered putting it on one of the albums, since clearly it was a personal song, a gift to the students, and it's theme is not "universal" enough for a (typic) BJ record

Also I think the fear of an acoustic record is unfounded, why would you need a player like Shanks or Phil X for that? Jon or Bobby can play the acoustic well enough. Honestly, I don't see that happening, and hope I'm right

Exactly what I thought, contractual obligation. Similar to Springsteen's High Hopes, except Springsteen obviously thought his leftover material was worthy enough of being given a little promotion. Jon very clearly has no belief in the songs.

The positive is We Don't Run is new, and surely reflective of the new album sound. Which is good for me since I havnt stopped listening to it since I first heard it. The fact he seems so confident in it and is focusing on that release date is reassuring.

We had "misheard lyrics", now we got "misheard interview"! Oh shucks!
"but don't look too deep/deeply?, (it's all done ???)"
and the repeated hand gesture and eyes moving he did starting at 8:09 after "BB will come out..." means "fuhgeddaboudit! It's a shitty record, I couldn't care less about it and you'd better do the same" then he enthusiastically added: "and then I got a GREAAAAAAT album." which says it all, doesn't it. Tell me about hammering home the message!

He's being very Italian lately, I've never seen him so expressive, speaking with his hands a lot and with his face too, he may have spent more time with his father lately? He's totally different from the rockstar who does interviews on TV or radio.

Once again, to those who expect songs like WDR on the "real" album: you're bound to be disappointed. Every word and gesture betrays his hate and complete disregard towards BB. If he constantly opposes the 2 albums it's because they're day and night, at least in his mind.

The times I've been around Jon in person talking with the hands and all the expressions are the norm. He's a bit more reserved for TV/interviews, etc but not always.

OK, you're probably right, it just struck me this time, I'll have to watch his previous RT Q&A sessions to see if he gestured that much.
