Is the Michael Strahan show to be seen online anywhere? It says it's on Hulu but I can't find it on Disney+ unfortunately. I've only seen short clips on YT.

Thoroughly enjoyed it. Great nostalgia trip. Really emotional.

Just wish they could find a way to get RS back in. Think that’s passed now though.

I think the coverage of the 90’s was too short considering it was their most successful period outside the US. Destination Anywhere and Undiscovered Soul wasn’t even mentioned. I also thought the editing/flow of part 4 was a bit odd - like they were trying to squeeze too much in. One minute Jon was talking about Matt and his role, the next it jumps to Dave talking about his musicals. The other weird bit was Jon was talking about Alec dying and then it jumped to talking about going on drives with Bruce.
One striking thing was also how Richie looked really well in the first interview but in the second interview he didn’t look good at all and looked like he was wearing a hat and glasses to try and hide it.
Other than that I thoroughly enjoyed it but it did make me upset for what we’ve lost in Jon and Richie no longer being a duo. 😢

It was mostly just a retelling of the documentary, not much new stuff

I really enjoyed the documentary which was brilliantly put together. I felt a mixture of pride and sadness throughout. It was moving seeing Jon look so vulnerable and knowing he'd tried everything possible to restore his voice before finally opting for surgery, clearly a last resort, and one bringing its own risks.

John Shanks came across terribly and I only hope Jon is seeing some of the reaction. He is a snake and, in my opinion, has harmed the band's legacy by seeing off Sambora and diluting their sound.

Something that never gets mentioned.... I'm all for Jon praising Phil X, who is brilliant. But let's not forget Phil plays 1-2 solos per record, the rest are all handed to Shanks. That is infuriating. If Richie was fully replaced by Phil X on stage and in the studio, I think most fans could accept that. Instead we have a producer with delusions of grandeur aspiring to be The Edge on record and on stage. Someone needs to ask Jon why Phil isn't the outright, lead guitar player in both instances. The doc made it sound as though he is but we know the THINFS solo they talked up isn't him.

Shanks must be quite the ego if he is handling solos over Phil X. I guess Jon is sort of leading that charge because I honestly think Jon has no interest in solos. But I also think if Shanks told him we should get Phil in to do the solos, we would have had some crackers over the years.

I have been watching a lot of Phil X videos on YouTube and he is a great player, and also has some unique traits. His interview with Rick Beato was an eye-opener into his playing. He still lacks the feel and tone of Sambora, but stomps all over him in terms of knowledge and technique. The former falls to the latter when live and playing Sambora's solos, but creating new music in the studio would be interesting. Jon has a monster player and never lets him loose.

I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT THAT PART. When Jon says on THINFS Phil could finally play his own stuff and not Richie's and it cuts to the THINFS music video of him miming a Shanks solo. I'll chalk that up to production/editing not knowing he was only on 3 songs of the final 12 but man what a funny mistake.

I finally finished it last night. That was a real emotional rollercoaster for me, and other than a few parts of episode 4 it was never boring. A few more observations:

-I have given up what little hope was left of a Jon and Richie reunion. I would also guess that they recently had a fight, either at the documentary screening or possibly Richie reached out to them about rejoining, and was rejected.

-Episode 2 was incredible. The juxtaposition between them being at the peak of their stardom to Jon crying on a floor in Indianapolis in 2022 hit hard.

-Despite Richie leaving the band 11 years ago, he really hasn't missed much in the grand scheme of things. It's like he jumped off a sinking ship at the right time (though him getting off the ship put another hole in it and caused it to sink faster.) Pretty much everything since 2013 besides the R&R HOF induction has hurt the band's legacy.

-Doc McGhee came across as a more sympathetic character than I expected him to. Him telling Jon to avoid acting was funny and correct. As someone mentioned earlier him leaving was the main catalyst that made the band go from being a "brotherhood" to Jon being in charge with no check on his power.

-They did a great job honoring Alec.

-Jon's ambition and work ethic knows no limits. If he retires from music I could see him running for Governor of New Jersey within the next 15 years. He would've been successful in life no matter what field he chose.

-I'd love a tell-all memoir from Richie to get more of his side of the story, but it'll probably never happen.

-John Shanks sucks. And Jon these days is surrounded by yes-men with a financial incentive for him to continue despite how terrible he sounds.

-Lastly, the ending was the most surprising thing to me. I felt almost certain that it would end with Jon boasting about how the surgery was hugely successful, how he sounds better than he has in a decade, and on the heels of that we'd be getting 2025 tour dates (which would then be a trainwreck like '22). Instead based on the documentary it made it seem like the band is more likely than not finished live. But then you have them selling copies of the new album with tour presale codes, so I'm left not knowing what the hell is going on with these mixed messages. My money is on Bon Jovi playing again since the financial incentive is there, but Jon not using the documentary to say "I'm better now, go buy tickets" caught me off guard.

And we don't know it. And we will never will, for sure.
I remember back in the days there were reports or at least rumours, that Richie was promised to get a spot for playing some solo songs on tour. It was said that was part of the "agreement" for cutting the Aftermath promo short.
I don't know how much of it is true. But it would make sense to put Every Road as a bonus track on the album to introduce at least one of his songs to the Jon-loving-housewifes who otherwise wouldn't have had a clue.

I remember this rumour too, but I don't know how true it was. Either way, it definitely never happened that he got to sing a solo song on that tour and it was definitely odd that an RS solo track was featured on the album.
